Attic insulation
Removing old insulation, sealing, and blowing in new to the right depth.
Read the transcript
Attic insulation, done in the right order. Settled and thin. Blown insulation settles over the years. For an uninsulated attic in our climate zone, ENERGY STAR’s level is R-49. Remove what’s damaged. When old insulation is wet, compressed or shows rodent signs, we vacuum it out first, through a hose to bags outside. Seal before you insulate. We seal gaps around wiring, plumbing and the tops of walls, so conditioned air stays in the house. Blown in to depth. Then we blow in new insulation to the depth marked on rulers across the attic, and photograph the result.
