Chimney sweep and inspection
What a yearly inspection looks at, and when a sweep is needed.
Read the transcript
Chimney sweep and inspection. What we look at, and when a sweep is needed. Inspect once a year. NFPA 211 calls for chimneys, fireplaces and vents to be inspected once a year, before the burning season. Creosote builds up. Every fire leaves creosote on the flue walls. When it builds up, it can catch fire. A clean sweep. We protect the hearth, keep dust under control with a vacuum, and sweep the flue from the firebox to the cap. Damper, liner and cap. We check the damper, the flue liner, the crown and the cap, and show you photos of what we find.
